Hi, I am an os x user and have a nokia 6300.
Installed the app successfully and tried to download maps with the serial proxy method but, no luck at all.
Could you post the correct procedure on os x?
are there specific programs for the os x platform that could do the trick?
thanx in advance and greetings!!!
the app is beautiful.
mac
I do not have any experience with mac. serial proxy is java app ant it should run on mac. it uses rxtx library and you can download the mac version from http://www.rxtx.org. let me know if it works.
thx
thanx a lot for the answer,
thanx a lot for the answer, I did what you said but the link you suggested in the downloads section (ftp://ftp.qbang.org/pub/rxtx/rxtx-2.1-7r2.zip) is only full of missing or outdated links so, no luck with rxtx!
Since I'm not a programmer, what is rxtx for?
Is it to simulate a serial port?
I think mac os since it has no serial hardware anymore has something like that into the sys os...
I think that if you'd post a STEP BY STEP guide for the bluetooth kind of map download method it would really help all of us...
looking forward to your answer,
thanx again
rxtx
rxtx is a library for using serial port in java. I use it because sun does not support windows in new version of java comm api.
I do not know mac os. is there some emulator for windows? or how do you use your gps receiver? in windows there is a serial port for bluetooth communication with the receiver.
In Mac Os X I do not have
In Mac Os X I do not have any problem with bluetooth communication with other devices at all.
I do not have a gps receiver but I have my mobile paired with my computer and since I live in the countryside (no dsl) I use to connect to the net with a bluetooth dial up modem.
In Navigami I go to Settings - Network - Proxy (and my computers' name appears down there) but when I try to select "Enable" the tel (Nokia 6300) says Connecting... and after a few seconds it seems to happen; after the it remains selected but I cannot save this option and obviously I cannot download any maps within this method, only successful with the http method but as you know gprs is not very cheap...
what am I doing wrong?
thx
