Please move yourselfIn case of not moving or "Smoothing/min Speed" activated, I think sould be showed a message at the compass/navigami... "Please move to accurate compass" or something like this... because when we stoped and rotate our selfs, the North won´t be valid... (spite the compass shows the "North" of our last move...) and i think you don´t want navigami giving wrong directions ;)

gps
gps can not show your orientation. only your direction if you are moving. there is no magnetic compass. if your phone display is orientated to south and you are moving to west, it will show wrong orientation. if you are not moving, the orientation is random or it shows the last known (static navigation or smoothing in navigami)
it´s because of that, that...
...I think a message could be displayed... And pherhaps an arrow or the cursor at the top of the screen phone, blinking(apearing/disappearing)... the compass information it´s only valid if we are moving and with the top phone screen pointing same direction we are going. (and a message, would be a way to show that)
blinking
blinking is a good idea.
gps off, compass arrow dark...
;)
other thing, what about
gps on, compass arrow white, gps off, compass arrow dark... like cursor in navigate...
At first I thought that the
At first I thought that the compass works like a magnetic compass when we stand still. It will be good too if the compass shows to North even we are not moving, but it's OK for what we have now. Perhaps it can be improved in future.
No Compass
It´s not possible to show North if we are stopped, due to hardware reasons. Most phones don´t have really a compass, spite there´s a Nokia, 5140 i think, that has... (this phone knows when is rotated, and has a compass function that always shows North, others don´t...)
Navigami/(Michal Kison), "makes" a North, with gps signal positions. If the gps "says" (with 2 minimal gps positions, we are navigating South, well the North is the opposite way... and Navigami draws a picture of it at the screen.
north
navigami do doesn't make north, it makes your gps receiver ;o)
