Motorola V3x error - "java.lang.NullPointerException on null 0: Empty"I get the error "java.lang.NullPointerException on null 0: Empty" on my Motorola V3x Razor. But it used to work fine. I now have many important locations saved and I don't want to lose them. There is plenty of memory left and no other Java Apps that I can un-instal. This looks like a great application and I have put some of my friends onto it. I'd like to keep using it. With thanks,

is it not possible to start
is it not possible to start it again?
all saved data remain after reinstallation. (sonyericcson, siemens). but when you delete the application, data are deleted also.
Error occurs upon startup.
I apologise for not explaining fully. The error I describe "java.lang.NullPointerException on null 0: Empty" occurs every time I attempt to start the application.
I have re-booted the phone. I have deleted all multimedia files & I have even pulled out the battery and left it for an hour before another attempt but the same error occurs.
So a re-installation (without first deleting the existing installation) should keep my data?
Thanks again,
SlyFred
reinstallation
I can't test it, I have only sonyericsson and siemens. there is no problem.
Still get error on startup
I've re-installed after being prompted to save my data and yet I still have the same error.
I noticed another user with the same error occuring at EXACTLY the same point at start-up (41%). Surely this can't be a co-incidence.
I've now tried the latest version from your website. Still the same problem.
Any help at all at saving my waypoints would be appreciated.

old version
older versions were running? and the same version before error?
File causing problem has been found.
Hi, The file "j2me0.rms" is the data file that cannot load. No matter if I attempt to re-install the original version or copy this file to the phone to be used with a newer version, the same error occurs.
If I attempt a new, clean installation, (with either older or new versions) everything works fine but without my locations data.
I can see the location & route names in the file when read with a text editor but cant make out the rest of the data.
If I send the file to you, could you extract the Lat/Log info so I can load them manually into a new installation? If so, what email address can I sent it to?
Many thanks for your help,
SlyFred
rms
rms is persistent storage for J2ME. it is phone specifis and there is probably a bug in phone sowtware. navigami doesn't write these files, it uses only api layer above this. data firmat in this file is device/manufacturer specific and developers have no access to it.
Starting all over again.
Thanks for your replies to this problem.
I'll start again - and keep an off-line copy of my waypoints as I go. I'll let you know if the same problem occurs, just for your information.
