Help with K810i user

Hi all, after days of researching, I came down to choosing between navigami, or TrekBuddy. TrekBuddy seems like an easy program to use, except for the fact that I have to create my own maps. This is seriously discouraging. So when I came across navigami, I decided to take a look at it. I got as for as getting it to run on my phone (but without a BT receiver and any maps). So It seems like this might be something that I want to use.

So I've got a few things to ask:

1) Where can I get maps?
My current phone subscription does not have the data reception plan, so downloading maps that way is not an option for me. Specifically, I am looking for maps of the US.

2) How functional is this software compared to say.. actual GPS devices from makes such as TomTom or Garmin?
Can it actually locate my position and give me directions as I'm driving or walking?

Thanks for your help.

help

1. maps can be downloaded using http or bluetooth. files are not supported yet. maps are not very detailed (e.g. no streets) because navigami uses free public data. lower map details with more information are in progress

2. no, navigami is small simple free java application and can not have all functionality of tomtom or garmin navigations. there are some free java apps with routing that can give you directions, but they use connection to map server. it is not poosible do it in java yet.

help

1. Why don't you use openstreetmap.com, its open-source en goes down to streetlevel.
