The navigation begins in Concesa di Trezzo, home to a charming sanctuary built along the waterway to offer divine protection against storms. Though not large, the church is artistically valuable, and the garden maintained by Carmelite friars is worth a visit.<\/p>\n

After a few minutes, you’ll arrive at the famous Crespi Village, a model industrial town and UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the Crespi family castle stood as a symbol of both authority and benevolence toward workers and their families.<\/p>\n

Sailing through the heart of the Adda Nord Park, you will encounter the historic Villa Melzi, a beautiful estate with terraced gardens that once hosted Leonardo da Vinci.<\/p>\n

The tour ends in Vaprio d’Adda, at the House of the Water Guardian, a former customs station where merchants paid tolls.<\/p>\n

This one-way navigation on the Naviglio Martesana from Trezzo to Vaprio d’Adda lasts approximately 25 minutes.<\/p>\n

There are several curiosities that can be found on the canals, here are some:<\/span><\/p>\n

1) The Navigli Martesana is also called the Naviglio Piccolo<\/span><\/p>\n

2) It was designed by the genius of Leonardo da Vinci; Carlo Borromeo and all the Milanese archbishops sailed it, the procession of Maria Anna of Habsburg and Archduke Ferdinando, and also Alessandro Manzoni, Cesare Beccaria, Parini and the Scaliger soprano Luigi Marchesi.<\/span><\/p>\n

3) Elio e le Storie Tese talks about the Naviglio Martesana in his song “Zelig: la cunesiun del pulpacc”<\/span><\/p>\n
